I wrote The Tortoise in three different counties as I moved from Oxfordshire to Shropshire via Herefordshire. The evolving manuscript was my constant companion. People say that your first novel is always about yourself. A bit worrying.

Nothing but the Truth was based on an idea I had after moving from the town to the country. I do play croquet but it is definitely not about myself.
